White lynx is a rare genetic variation of the Canadian lynx, a medium-sized wild cat native to North America. Unlike the typical brownish-grey coat of Canadian lynx, white lynx has a solid white fur with black tufts of hair on its ears, toes, and tail.
White lynx populations are very rare and usually occur in areas with heavy snow and colder climates, often in the northern regions of Canada and Alaska. They are highly efficient hunters, preying mostly on snowshoe hares, which make up about 75% of their diet.
Due to their rarity, white lynx are highly valued by fur traders, which has led to illegal hunting and trapping in some areas. However, conservation efforts are in place to protect this unique genetic variation.
